Hello again to everybody from Dahab. Today, for a change, wind and waves, so the training took place at the Blue Hole again, where the sea is calmer even in these days.
We were leaving at half past twelve, so everybody spent the morning individually. Mostly people rested to gain strength for next deep dives. Everything is ready for Martin’s dives and we can begin. Today Martin trained for CNF. Because maximum depth at the Blue Hole is 90 meters, Martin can’t train constant waight with fins dives under 100 meters here.
When the team got back from the Blue Hole they told us a story about their journey. I know what they were talking about because yesterday we experienced the same thing on our way from training. Today’s group of safety divers rode back home literally one hour instead of usual 20 minutes. Because their Jeep ran out of gas!!! The driver decided to solve it by stopping a passing by car and repumping the petrol from its tank. It seems it’s a common custom here to drive the car till you use all the gas. But the first refuelling gave us gas only for a short travel. So the proccess had to be repeated several times. Which wasn’t very comfortable considering the temperature of 40 degrees in the shade .
An Opening Party started at the Lighthouse !!! Grilled meat smelled good from miles away and everything was prepared – video, T-shirts and of course Martin and Niki . The guests were coming slowly so everything started around 7 o‘clock. Martin and Niki answered all questions about records as well as about freediving in general. Martin Prachař introduced the work of deep safety divers and David explained everything regarding sled.
Judge Ute Gessmann arrived tonight. However only her. The second judge Nicolas Laporte experienced some difficulties at the airport, he wasn’t let on board because the wanted a visa for Egept, although you can buy them after you land, at every Egyptian airport. Both judges will be here tomorrow. That’s why the official measuring of the rope is moved on tomorrow and official world record attempts are moved on next days.
